Getting started

What BobIdle is, how a hunt works and what to do in your first hour.

The idea

BobIdle is an idle RPG under the sea: your crew hunts on its own, even while you are away. You decide where to hunt, what to wear and how each character grows; the fights play out by themselves.

A hunt is a loop: waves of monsters, then the boss. Beat the boss and the round pays out its experience; then it starts again from the first wave.

Your first hour

  • Pick your first character and give them a name (names are unique).
  • Start in Jellyfish Fields, the first hunt, with the net.
  • Open the loot pouch: what the monsters drop lands there. Move gear to the Backpack and equip it.
  • Keep the healing helper on: it drinks a potion when someone falls below 50% life, paid with your doubloons (one potion every 2 s per character).
  • When the boss goes down easily, move to the next hunt: each one shows a recommended level.

Three weapons, three kinds of hunt

Every hunt asks for one weapon type. When you enter, each character equips the best weapon of that type in the Backpack.

Each weapon has its own skill, trained by using it. Rotating between the three kinds of hunt is the fastest way to collect the best gear.

A push at the start

The beginning is faster on purpose: experience is ×3 below 20, ×2 below 40, ×1.5 below 60 (character level), and weapon skill is ×5 below 20, ×3 below 30, ×2 below 40, ×1.5 below 50 (skill level).
